Grace
In January, 52-year-old Grace walked into The Clinics hoping to become a patient in search of relief from ongoing medical issues – what she found was relief much greater. During her social needs assessment, as a part of The Clinics application process, the Social Needs Coordinator became aware that she needed immediate help with food insecurities. Through The Clinics partnerships and the use of Unite Us, a referral was sent to a partnering agency with urgency. The very next day, Grace was able to receive emergency food from a local food pantry and apply some relief to one part of her daily struggle.
Angie
Angie Coley was referred to Good News Clinics 18 months ago from the Georgia Heart Institute for treatment and follow up care for her congestive heart failure CHF). Having lived with the condition for three years, Angie is grateful for the CHF Clinic Team who is closely managing her health care. “Everyone at the Clinics is so easy to talk to and Eva gets to the bottom of whatever problem I’m having” said Angie when asked about her experience at Good News Clinics. Eva Johnson, nurse practitioner at the Clinics, credits Angie’s success to the interdisciplinary team stating, “the improvement that we’re seeing with our CHF patients is related to the effective interdisciplinary approach to care that exists at the Clinics.
Miranda
Miranda is a beautiful success story. She became a patient of the Clinics in 2020 after experiencing the tragic loss of her husband and parents within six weeks of each other. She entered the doors to The Clinics with anger, sadness, and uncertainty, and it showed in her first few visits. After coming to terms with her situational needs, Miranda began to truly understand that the staff and volunteers of The Clinics were there to help her along her journey. “Everyone was there for me, and that is what The Clinics are about.” Having filled the healthcare gap until she was able to obtain insurance of her own, Miranda will no longer need to remain a patient of Good News Clinics.
